We advocate for leaving the community better than we found it. While we want and encourage everyone to express their feelings and share their experience, we cannot tolerate any form of violence or vandalism to be committed in our names.
Joy is an act of resistance in dark times. The regime in the White House is trying to crush our spirits so we won’t resist the robber baron takeover of our federal institutions. We must do everything in our power to experience joy every day, and share it with our communities and the world whenever possible.
A group of diverse individuals won’t see eye to eye on everything. It’s important that we acknowledge that from the get go. The purpose of this group is not to create an echo chamber, but to create a community that shares a common goal and ideas with each other. We must communicate in a respectful way.
We are all learning as we go. Many in our community have never protested before or been active in our democratic process–aside from voting. We are here to change that, so we can all learn and grow together in opposition to this authoritarian moment.
Voter turnout in the last presidential election was disappointing, to say the least. Almost 1/3 of eligible voters didn’t bother voting or were prevented in one way or another. We will do voter outreach in our communities from time to time.
Resistance to authoritarian governments takes place in the streets. As our government becomes more corrupt and lawless, we should take to the streets more and more. Let’s create a network for quick calls to action.
